If you are a non-local participant, you will probably be flying into either the San Jose Airport or the San Francisco Airport. There are a number of options for getting from the airports to Stanford University.

Shuttles and Taxis

In general, shuttles are available at both San Francisco and San Jose Airports without reservations, with signs leading you to the shuttle pickup areas from baggage claim. Shuttles are invariably less expensive than taxis, ranging around $20-$30 to Stanford from either airport, but you may have to wait while 2-3 other passengers are collected and taken to their destinations. Pick up at San Francsico is upstairs on departure level at the blue/yellow sign, and there are assistants available to direct you and hail shuttles. Pick up at San Jose Airport is outside the baggage claim. Reservations are not required for travel from the airport, and they may cause problems at San Francisco Airport due to the handling of shuttles. Reservations to the airport are required and can usually be made the day before the departing flight.
