Seminar on Computational Learning and Adaptation

Web Intelligence Meets Brain Informatics

The International WIC Institute (WICI)/BJUT, China

In this talk, we give a new perspective of Web intelligence research from the viewpoint of Brain Informatics, a new interdisciplinary field that studies the mechanisms of human information processing from both the macro and micro viewpoint by combining experimental cognitive neuroscience with advanced information technology. We argue that new instruments like fMRI and information technology will revolutionize both Web intelligence and brain science. This revolution will be bi-directional: new understanding of human intelligence through brain science will yield a new generation of Web intelligence research and development, and Web intelligence portal techniques will provide a powerful new platform for brain science. The synergy between these two fields will advance our understanding knowledge, intelligence, and creativity. As a result, Web intelligence will become a central topic that will change the nature of information technology, in general, and artificial intelligence, in particular, towards human-level Web intelligence.
